IJCA Verify a certificate

Code of Ethics

Provisional version. To be adopted by the IJCA Board.

Effective 29 September 2026

This Code applies to IJCA Certified Coaches, Examiners, Educators, accredited centers and IJCA staff. Breaches may lead to suspension or revocation of qualifications and accreditation.

1. Integrity of certification

  • Assess every candidate against the published standard — no more, no less.
  • Examiners must not test candidates they coach, their own family members, or anyone where a conflict of interest exists, unless IJCA has approved it in advance and a second examiner is present.
  • Never inflate, alter or fabricate results, or register a result for a test that did not take place.
  • Keep test videos as required and provide them to IJCA when asked.

2. Care for athletes

3. Honesty

  • Describe your qualifications and your center's accreditation accurately. Use IJCA marks only as permitted and only while valid.
  • Be clear with families about fees charged by the center, and which fees go to IJCA.

4. Respect

Treat athletes, families, colleagues and other organisations with respect. No discrimination or harassment.

5. Confidentiality

Use personal data only for its purpose and protect it as the Privacy Policy and local law require.

6. Keeping up to date

Complete the continuing education required to keep your qualification valid, including Examiner scoring-consistency checks.

7. Reporting

Report breaches of this Code to [email protected] (subject: "Ethics"). Retaliation against anyone who reports in good faith is itself a breach.
